Look Even Better: Profile

The one question most frequently asked me is "Why did you decide to become an image consultant?"

My response is easy. I have always had a passion for clothes and enjoy helping people. Friends and family were often asking me to go shopping with them and valued my opinion....so I just thought, why not make a career of it?

My CV illustrates a diversity of work and interests, which I believe helps me to mix quite comfortably with all types of people in all sorts of situations and circumstances.

I was educated at Millfield in Somerset where I studied Business, IT and Physical Education. From there I moved into the family agricultural business where I spent a lot of time travelling around the country visiting farmers and county shows....as well as being heavily involved in the managerial side and responsible for PR. So whether it be mud wrap and stilettos or mud fields and wellies....I'm at home with both!

My determination ensured that, somehow along the way, I managed to complete the formal training at Aston and Hayes Image Consultancy.

Et voila! The dream of starting my own consultancy became a reality....and LOOK EVEN BETTER was born. Eight years on and I'm still as passionate about my work as ever....and consider myself very fortunate to have met, and helped, so many lovely people as well.

The joy that you can give someone through what they wear is amazing.

Common Misconceptions About Image Consultancy

The most common misconception is that the whole Image Consultancy service is an expensive one and only for the affluent. This is not the case at all as I can cater for all budgets and put together a package to suit your purse.

The current economic climate means that many of us are having to tighten our belts and it’s even more important than ever to spend wisely. If you consider all the money you have spent on impulse buys, clothes that didn't suit and have never been worn....you can see that a few hours with a professional image consultant can undoubtedly save you money in the long run. I can help you to utilise what you already have as well as advising you how to incorporate it with anything new. I can show you how to update an outfit simply by small alterations or clever accessorising. The majority of us wear 20% of our wardrobe 80% of the time....what a waste!

Another worry that you might have is that I will attempt to dress you in the latest fashion, trends and combinations. Wrong again. My experience and skill may encourage you to consider styles and colours that you might not normally choose....but your comfort and happiness remain my priority. All my suggestions will take into account your lifestyle, age, shape and the requirements YOU set out in the initial meeting. I am there to guide and support....and maybe give the odd little nudge in the right direction!

One last point. Please don’t be put off by the bullying tactics of so called ‘stylists’ on TV ‘makeover’ shows. It obviously makes for good watching....but hardly very professional. It’s my job to be very honest with you about how you look....but I’m tactful and sensitive too. And don’t forget....my training showed me exactly what it’s like to be at the receiving end!!
